2/17 Friday Night from 7:00 to 9:30 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of Avoca. Call 607-566-2077 by Wed., Feb. 15 for reservations. Free dessert and entertainment!
We believe that strong marriages and dating relationships are God’s desire. Research shows that dating at least once a month significantly improves relationships. The Date Night Challenge is a chance for you to get away for some fun, relaxation, and challenge. Comedian Jeff Allen, singer/songwriter Michael O'Brien and bestselling authors Dr. Greg and Erin Smalley will join us via webcast. During the event, the Smalleys will explain the power of dating your mate and encourage couples to take the "Date Night Challenge": go on three dates in three weeks. This is part of a national "date night movement" where the goal is for 5 million dates to take place across the country during the month of February.
This event is the first date of the challenge! Focus on the Family will then provide free, downloadable materials and content for the next two dates. Then, each month for the next year, couples can download a new, free date night guide that provides content and ideas for their dates.
Our part is to provide dessert at 7:00 p.m. at the church and the 2 hour webcast. That part is free (though we need your reservation by Wednesday, Feb. 15)! We would suggest that you hire a baby-sitter, if necessary (a list of teens is available from the church ... there will be no child-care at the church), go out to dinner and then join us for a great ending to your evening. Call if you have any questions!!

02/19-20 Teen Winter Retreat at Bryan Schoeffler's cabin we will leave following Sunday school, head to Bath for a fast food lunch before going to the cabin, and return Monday night by 7:30 pm. Cost is $12 plus money for lunch. Please register by Sunday, February 12. See Pastor Brandon for more info.

02/22 6-6:30 PM and 8-8:30 PM Awana Grand prix test runs. Bring your car to check your official car weight and to take a trial lap down the track. Contact Pastor Brandon with questions.

02/24 7:00 PM Awana Grand Prix. A free dinner for all Grand prix participants and their families will be served from 6-6:30 p.m. Registration will open at 6:30 p.m. It is recommended that you come no later than 6:50 p.m. Contact Pastor Brandon with questions.

"STAGG"

the exiting new ministry that's done on your time. STAGG stands for Sharing The Abilities God Gave! Each one off us has abilities given to us by God like sewing, baking, Bible study, carpentry, mechanical knowledge, you name it. So why keep all that blessing to yourself? Here's the idea, once a month for couple of hours or as your schedule allows: invite others to learn how to do what you do. Simple right! This is also a huge ministry to others not in our church, we could put teams together to do work in the community! Please contact me Brian Patterson, if you would be interested in doing a STAGG, have a job to do that your not quite sure how to tackle or something you would like to learn and I will get us "STAGG". I can be reached at 566-9200 or bpatt769@yahoo.com

Email Groups For 2012

We have several group lists that we use to help in spreading information. If you would like to be on any of them, (even if you are being sent them now, we will start with new lists for 2012.)
Please email us at firstbaptistavoca@firstbaptistavoca.org. We will update these lists February 12th. Thank you!

Awana - sent out occasionally by Pastor Brandon, to ask for prayer, let you know of details of activities, to elicit volunteers who can help with the weekly ministry or for special events.

Congregation - occasionally we send out announcements, reminders, and information.

Email - as prayer needs come into the church office.

Missionary Letters - Would you like a faster way to stay up-to-date with our missionaries needs, prayer requests and praises? The church office receives most missionary letters by e-mail, we would like to forward them on to anyone who would be interested in receiving them at your home.

Prayer Sheet - we send this out each week, so that you are aware of the prayer needs of our congregation. We would encourage you to attend the Wednesday night prayer meeting from 6:30-8:00 pm.; however, we do realize that some of you are working in Awana and that some just are not able to make it out.

Youth Update - sent out by Pastor Brandon, to update the teens and their parents on what is going on in the Youth Ministry and others who would like to pray. Please email directly to Pastor Brandon at pastorbrandon@firstbaptistavoca.org.

Phone Groups for 2012

For those who would like to know what is being sent out by the church:
   1) Phone Chain: someone will call you with the information and you will need to call the next person in line. We will be providing the list with your group on it in February. This chain is used for emergency or severe situations and occasional praises.
   2) Info Chain - someone would call you with updates on events and you will need to call the next person in line. We will be providing the list with your group on it in February.

Haiti Trip

The team will be in Haiti from Feb. 21- Feb 28th. The plan is for us to be doing medical work in the camps. We would first like to ask for your prayer support as this is the most important part of our trip. If you would like to contribute financially you may do so by just marking your gift for the Haiti trip. The cost per individual this year is approximately $1500.

Haiti Team Food/Supply Needs

There is a sign-up for items that the team will need to take on the bulletin board. Please sign-up for what you are able to help with. The items are needed as soon as possible. Place the items in the tote marked Haiti. Thanks.
